BEHOLD.....el pepino hermoso.....



The container gardening is going GREAT! We've had so much rain this year that I was afraid I wouldn't get much out of the plants. I have lost a few to the over-watering...we won't be getting any squash or zucchini...and I lost 3 jalapenos.

Obviously the cucumbers are growing!!! I can't wait to make refrigerator pickles!!!

The tomatoes are doing incredibly well...as a matter of fact...They are so much taller than the cages and have so much fruit on the vine that John had to put hooks in the fence so that I could tie them up!

The peppers are out of control...Bananas, jalapenos, cayenne, and habanero are all big and beautiful!

Herbs are fantastic with the exception of the cilantro...I'm not sure why....maybe it feels my negative energy towards it...Uuuuugggghhhhhkkkk!

Dining Room...

We've slowly been chipping away at our dining room to-do list.  Thankfully...it's finally done!  You can see that the wallpaper was all 80s!  What you can't tell from this picture is that the chair rail....was installed upside down!   We removed the chair rail and the wallpaper.  Painted the walls a much richer color and did the trim in an oatmeal color rather than leaving the original wood.  Plantation blinds were a real upgrade from the previous plastic miniblinds.       The change with the greatest impact, at least in my mind, is the light fixture!  The one that was here when we moved in was oh so dated as well as being broken.     We replaced it with a beautiful fixture that fits our style... and works!        Please excuse the glare in this picture...it is out of control.  Anyway, the interior wall is really large and after we got it painted it was in desperate need of something.     We pulled some cigar boxes from my coll

Tiramisu For Keressa

One of my favorite people in the world, who happens to be a coworker, really loves tiramisu.  She'll be leaving us soon so I thought I'd ply her with her favorite treats to make her want to stay! This was my first attempt at tiramisu...It WILL be happening again!  Easy to make and absolutely delicious!  Tiramisu 4 large eggs, separated 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar 16 ounces mascarpone cheese 1-1/2 cups brewed coffee 1/2 cup dark rum ( I used The Kracken ...because it's amazing!) 40 store-bought ladyfingers 1 cup heavy cream cocoa powder bittersweet chocolate In a large bowl, beat egg yolks and cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in mascarpone until incorporated. Whisk egg whites until soft peaks form. Fold in beaten egg whites into mascarpone mixture. In a small bowl combine coffee and rum. Dip ladyfingers into coffee-rum mixture and lay in rows in the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream on top. Make one more layer of ladyfinge
